NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH UPDATES FOR WOODBURY, MN:

January 2, 2008

This reply was sent to me from the last email. The 2 vehicle breakins are almost directly across the street from one another on the same night. .
I also had someone go thru my truck and take my fuzz buster, sunglasses, money and glove's on Friday 28th. I left it unlocked by accident. I'm also on Wynstone Dr.

There was a break in last night on Wynstone Drive. Here is the message....
A truck window was broken into last night. They stole a GPS Nothing else was taken. We did have our front lights on so it was well lit. We did make a police report. We had a home alarm system installed about a month ago. I am sick about all of the breakins. Sheila

This just came to my attention. Happened on Sunset Drive....
Well, what happened was my son Reid's Jimmy had a brick (which was wrapped in a towel) smashed through the back side window. Nothing was taken, the truck was in my driveway. It happened on Sunday Nov. 18th between 6-10:00 PM. I did call the police and filed a report. Thanks Maxine

On November 13, 2007 at 1:00 PM Woodbury Police Department responded to a call of an attempted burglary in the 9400 block of Wedgewood Dr.
The resident reported that an adult white male had repeatedly knocked on her front door. The resident did not recognize the person and did not answer the door. Minutes later the glass door in the rear of the house was broken inward and the door was unlocked by the perpetrator. An audible alarm was activated by the unauthorized entry. The intruder fled the scene while the resident called 911.
The Woodbury Police responded and utilized a police K9 in an attempt to track the intruder. The intruder was not located. The crime scene was processed and the local neighbors that were home at the time were interviewed. No suspect has been identified at this time. No theft loss was reported. This incident remains under investigation.
The suspect is described as being an adult white male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black leather jacket, gloves, and a cap.
Woodbury residents are asked to report any information that might relate to this crime.
SAFETY TIPS As always residents are encouraged to report suspicious persons, vehicles, and activity when they observe it. If it is not a 911 emergency, you may contact the Woodbury Police at 651-439-9381.

Just wanted to let you know about some break ins over in Powers Lake area that got sent to me.
Bonnie B.
Wanted to let everyone know what was happening in the neighborhood. In the past week, we have had several break-ins. On Larkspur Ct. and Brookhaven Dr. it was theft from cars sitting in the driveway. The last occurred at aa residence on Brookhaven. It occurred at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. Mark saw the thief in his son’s car which was parked in his driveway, confronted him and ended up chasing him down Waterfront before he lost him. A wallet and i-pod were stolen from the car. On Waterfront, a house was broken into on Friday. The house was in disarray and an ATM card was stolen (and used). Laptops, and computer games, etc. were some of the other items stolen. All incidents were reported to the police.
As we get closer to the holidays, burglary rates rise. So please be more vigilant of what’s happening around you and if you must park your car in the driveway, remove your valuables and LOCK IT. If any of you are a victim of a crime, you need to call the police and also let your block captain know, (when possible) so we can let the rest of your neighbors know what is going on. I will try to keep everyone informed about what is happening in the neighborhood.
Hope everyone has a happy (and safe) holiday, Shelley W.
SAFETY TIPS:  Remember to keep your eyes open and most of all BE SAFE. Confronting someone might seem like the right thing to do at the time but you never know what will happen when you corner a rat. Again I suggest installing motion lights. mike & laura riebe

September 26, 2007

just received a call this morning about a car that was stolen last week (Sept 19 or 20) from a home on Clippership Alcove.  It was taken from the garage.

SAFETY TIPS AND Some things to be aware of:  Leaving your keys in the car in your garage - not only stealing the car but house keys, work keys, etc. Not locking your door from the garage to the house. once in the garage, they are in the house. People leave garage door openers in cars that are in the driveway overnight - easy access to the home through the garage.  Be careful and be smart.

I received this note about some issues on Clippership Bay over the weekend.

Wednesday night, mirror damaged on one vehicle parked in street.
Recently: one house egged, one driveway and mailbox covered with oily substance, one basketball post/net damaged.
All of the above were at different homes, thankfully not at ours. Also, one neighbor spotted several youth in his back yard (triggered the motion lights) with a pill bottle.

Hope this all ends once school starts! As much as we would all like the vandalism to stop, the scariest part I think, is the pill bottle. One thing they always teach us in real estate. When doing open houses or having showings "put anything of value away". You would be surprised at the medications, rings, watches, ipods (the list goes on) left out in clear view to perfect strangers. Personally, we had an issue where someone fell to temptation. I'm sitting at the computer laughing right now but I guarantee you, at the time, it is a very hard lesson to deal with. If these kids had a pill bottle it came from their homes. I know I have some Vicatin left over (saving for a rainy day) from one of my "old man aches", I'm going to get rid of it, or just hide it a lot better....  Mike

Woodbury Bulletin last week reported that vandalism is up all around town. Quite a few parks as well as neighborhoods have been experiencing the same as we have. Although it has been somewhat quiet, last week there was reported damage to a fence and sprinkler heads were broke. Mike

April 2007
Bike stolen out of open garage on Regatta Drive while occupants were home. Daylight hours- Monday night. Police Report filed.
